The PSOE of Leganés has demanded that the municipal government, a coalition of PP and Unión por Leganés, expedite the handover of public housing managed by EMSULE, pointing to significant delays in the 'Puerta de Fuenlabrada' project.

The PSOE of Leganés has urged the municipal government, a coalition between the PP and Unión por Leganés, to accelerate the delivery of public housing managed by the Municipal Land Company (EMSULE). The socialists have announced they will bring this issue to the next municipal plenary session to seek explanations for the ongoing 'delays' affecting dozens of families in the rental housing development ‘Puerta de Fuenlabrada’, where construction was completed ten months ago.
This development, which includes 216 units of 'affordable rent' and 134 for sale, was initiated by the Socialist Party during the previous term through the ‘Municipal Housing Plan’. The PSOE will demand from the mayor, Miguel Ángel Recuenco, 'immediate solutions for an unjustifiable delay'.
Municipal sources have acknowledged 'circumstances' slowing down the completion of the works but have criticized the PSOE's interest in the apartment allocated to their general secretary, suggesting they should show the same interest in other urban developments like ‘Puerta de Madrid’.
The Socialist Group will inquire about the actual status of pending procedures, the specific actions required, and whether the delay is due to a political decision. The general secretary of the PSOE in Leganés emphasized that 'behind every key not delivered are families waiting to start their life project,' and criticized the mayor for 'selling headlines and hot air about public housing' while '108 finished homes remain closed for ten months'.
For their part, the local government has deemed the socialist complaint 'unpresentable,' recalling that the homes were put to a lottery and awarded to a construction company linked to the ‘Caso Koldo’ without secured financing. They added that it was the current PP municipal government that secured the necessary funds for their construction, describing the PSOE's management as 'shameful'.
