The City Council of Leganés presents Switch On Madrid (SOM), an urban dance festival that will bring together over 5,000 dancers and 350 groups at the El Carrascal Sports City this weekend.

The Europa Pavilion will be the epicenter of the competition, where groups of all ages from across Spain will showcase their skills. An attendance of over 11,000 people is expected, including the public, participants, and visitors, surpassing last year's numbers.
Beyond urban dance, the festival will offer a varied program of complementary activities. Attendees can enjoy a paddle tennis tournament, 3x3 basketball competitions, breakdance battles, and live graffiti exhibitions, as highlighted by the Councilor for Sports, Clara Polonio.
The third edition of the festival aims to "make visible the local talent of the city's young urban artists," stated Polonio. Five selected candidates will have the opportunity to perform on the main SOM stage.

"There will be a very family-friendly audience so that everyone can dance inside the Europa Pavilion, a space that is perfect, and there will be activities throughout the Sports City"

Laura Seven · Director of the SOM Festival
'All styles' battles will be another major attraction, featuring one-on-one showdowns to the rhythm of a DJ. The program has been expanded to include 32 teams for 3x3 basketball, a paddle tennis tournament, skateboarding, and live graffiti demonstrations to enhance the sports complex and support local artists. Festival director Laura Seven emphasized the importance of Leganés's infrastructure and municipal support.
The 'Leganés Suena' festival will kick off on Friday night with free musical performances by local and non-local artists. On Saturday, there will be music in Arroyo Culebro in the morning and in the Plaza Mayor in the afternoon. Sunday will feature the 'La Despensa' agri-food fair, showcasing products from Madrid and Leganés.

"This festival is a luxury because it puts us on the map and is another way to promote sport. Congratulations to the Departments of Sports and Youth for making it possible"

Miguel Ángel Recuenco · Mayor of Leganés
