The city of Fuenlabrada is preparing to host the 19th edition of its International Film and Disability Festival, set to take place from October 12 to 17, solidifying its status as a national leader in promoting inclusion through cinema.

The festival, organized by the Fuenlabrada City Council in collaboration with the ANADE and AMÁS foundations, aims to highlight the realities of people with disabilities and foster social awareness. The deadline for submitting film entries for this edition is September 7.
The Aitana Sánchez-Gijón Theater will serve as the main venue for screening the finalist films. In addition to screenings, the festival will feature parallel activities, educational workshops, and awareness campaigns specifically for students from the municipality's high schools. The closing ceremony and awards presentation are scheduled for October 17.
The previous edition of the festival showcased over 98 productions from various countries, underscoring its international reach and growing social impact year after year. The submitted works explore disability from multiple viewpoints, including films starring individuals with disabilities, stories focusing on their experiences, and projects created by technical teams involving professionals with disabilities, across categories such as fiction, documentary, and animation.

"Fuenlabrada works towards a more inclusive society, and in this case, we are committed to this International Film Festival, the most important in Spain, using the big screen to give visibility to the reality surrounding these individuals with different needs."
