“"The Community of Madrid does not put a single euro into these aids. They are possible thanks to the agreement that the mayor (Sara Hernández) signed with the Government of Spain. There is no regional commitment to housing access and rehabilitation, which means that residents have to endure these administrative delays, after making significant outlays."

A neighborhood community in Getafe has received 23,000 euros in aid for property rehabilitation, managed by the Community of Madrid, after almost two years of waiting, while fourteen others are still awaiting payment.
The first of fifteen neighborhood communities in Getafe that applied for subsidies for property rehabilitation has received a payment of 23,000 euros, with a delay of nearly two years. These aids are managed by the Community of Madrid.
According to municipal sources, fourteen additional communities are still awaiting funds corresponding to the Programmed Residential Rehabilitation Environments (ERRP) aids. The Housing Councilor, Gema Cáceres, has criticized the delays, noting that the Community of Madrid does not contribute its own funding to these programs.
Currently, fourteen neighborhood communities in the Las Margaritas and Juan de la Cierva districts are awaiting advances on recognized aid, while another twenty-three have not yet received favorable resolutions. The local government has expressed concern, indicating that these delays discourage the execution of works, despite the availability of European funds.
The Municipal Land and Housing Company (EMSV) has secured over 5 million euros in European funds for the areas of La Alhóndiga, Las Margaritas, and Juan de la Cierva. However, the management of the regional government is preventing these resources from reaching their destination. ERRP aids are allocated to building improvements, including energy efficiency with external thermal insulation, roof improvements, and window replacement, as well as the installation of photovoltaic solar panels or aerothermal systems.
Furthermore, accessibility and habitability improvements are promoted through the installation of elevators in buildings without them, the construction of ramps, the elimination of architectural barriers, and the removal of hazardous materials such as asbestos. In the coming weeks, Getafe will launch its own call for Rehabilitation Aids 2026, with a budget exceeding 750,000 euros. Last year, 89 aids were granted for habitability improvements.
