The initial works include clearing the surroundings, archaeological studies, and consolidating certain walls to advance the recovery of this heritage site.
The Mayor of Aranjuez, Miguel Gómez Herrero, highlighted that the recovery of this space represents "a decisive step to return to the riverbank dwellers a space of enormous historical, landscape, and heritage value."
The project for rehabilitation has been put out to tender, which will be developed in four annual phases and has a funding of 350,000 euros from the Community of Madrid.
The origins of the flour mill date back to the Renaissance. Preserved archaeological remains include brick channels, part of the sluices, and the parapet over the river, testifying to Aranjuez's hydraulic heritage.
