In the ordinary plenary session of July, the proposal presented by the Independent Citizen Group for Aranjuez (acipa) to convene the Martinsa-Fadesa Monitoring Commission was unanimously approved. This initiative aims to ascertain the current status of the bankruptcy liquidation process, the consequences of recent judicial rulings, and the outlook for future legal actions, with the involvement of the municipal legal services.
Jesús Mario Blasco, Spokesperson Councilor for acipa, thanked the unanimous vote and expressed his hope that all information available at the City Council will be brought to light. "We are in a delicate situation that deserves everyone's attention," he stated, trusting that the agreement will be fulfilled in September to obtain detailed information on the liquidation process and the measures to be taken.
Furthermore, an urgent request was debated for an extraordinary campaign of cleaning, unblocking, and deep disinfection of drains and sewers, prioritizing areas with bad odors and rodent sightings. It was also requested to coordinate rat control and pest control treatments, as well as to ensure preventive maintenance of the drainage network for potential summer storms. The municipal government accepted the request, indicating that actions are already underway and committed to reviewing any neglected areas.
Another request presented asks to increase police presence in peripheral residential neighborhoods during summer nights to ensure residents' rest. It also calls for studying the suitability of spaces for outdoor leisure without causing disturbances. The government responded that surveillance has been increased since June 1st, although they acknowledged the difficulty of completely eradicating the problem. No reference was made to the provision of leisure areas.
Finally, a question was raised regarding the approximate date for the meeting of the Mobility Pact. It was inquired whether it would be convened before the end of the year to address the issues that the station bridge works will cause residents. A question was also asked about the requested meeting with Adif regarding these works. The government indicated that they have not received a response from Adif, which has prevented the meeting, and that traffic disruptions will be announced via social media once the bridge works begin.
