The ordinary July plenary session in Aranjuez has given initial approval to the municipal budgets for 2026. Among the agreements, the Fundación Reina Sofía was named 'Amotinada Mayor' for the September festivities, recognizing its long-standing institutional trajectory of service to society and support for vulnerable individuals and groups. Jesús Mario Blasco, spokesperson for the Independent Citizen Group (acipa), expressed agreement with the foundation's work, particularly in scientific studies and environmental support, and suggested future collaboration.
Regarding the Mar de Ontígola, the request from the Confederación Hidrográfica del Tajo (CHT) was rejected as illegal. The council demands that the General Directorate of State Heritage take necessary safety measures and exempts the Aranjuez City Council from any liability for damages, attributing it to State Heritage and the CHT. Criminal actions are threatened if a sanctioning regime is initiated.
The proposal from the Coalition for Aranjuez Group to modify the social aid assessment criteria aims to optimize spending from the budget allocation. Meanwhile, acipa abstained from the initial budget approval, citing the influence of past debts and external intervention in budget management. They regret the lack of agility in managing municipal heritage and the absence of a surplus for flexibility.
acipa also expressed concern about the waste fee, which may need to be refunded, and noted the lack of provisions for maintaining the sanitation network. They lament the delay in implementing a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and the uncertainty surrounding the construction of the pedestrian path and cycle lane between Aranjuez and Ontígola. They consider the investment for productive spaces insufficient and note the lack of updates on the Special Urban Plan and the Protected Assets Catalogue.
The PSOE presented a proposal for an urgent city cleaning plan, although they pointed out that the proposal does not accurately reflect municipal control over the cleaning company and highlighted the high rate of vandalism in Aranjuez. They requested the contract's compliance status and audit results. They also proposed a plan for the rehabilitation of municipal housing, expressing doubts about the feasibility of the first point concerning properties declared as ruins.
Unanimously, the creation of a cycle lane from the Renfe de Penicilina bridge to the Glorieta de Cortefiel (TENDAM), proposed by the MM-VQ Group, was approved. This group also had their proposal approved for the Real Aranjuez C.F. to promote the town on its team kit.
