The PP's initiative, named 'Sandbox Alcorcón', intends to establish controlled environments where companies, universities, technology centers, and entrepreneurs can test new technologies and business models. The goal is to foster urban innovation, generate quality employment, and improve municipal public services.
These urban regulatory 'sandboxes', already in use in other cities, allow experimentation with solutions in areas such as mobility, sustainability, accessibility, or public service digitalization, under specific supervision and with certain administrative flexibilities. Popular Party spokesperson, Roberto Marín Vergara, has stressed the importance for Alcorcón not to fall behind in adopting these tools.
Pilot projects could range from energy-saving systems and traffic optimization to citizen communication applications and accessibility tools. All tests would be conducted under municipal control, ensuring legal and citizen safety, and would not exempt companies from obtaining the necessary licenses for their final implementation.
The PP believes this measure would position Alcorcón as a hub for technological investment. 'We want Alcorcón to be a city that attracts opportunities, generates quality jobs, and leverages innovation to improve public services and the quality of life for our residents,' stated Marín Vergara.
The initiative also considers the possibility of accessing grants and funding programs for digital transformation and sustainable urban development. The future ordinance regulating the 'sandbox' would be developed through a participatory process involving companies, neighborhood associations, universities, and citizens, thus ensuring transparency and accountability.
“"Innovation should not remain mere declarations of intent but should translate into concrete measures that allow Alcorcón to advance, generate economic activity, and offer better solutions to present and future challenges."
