The city of Alcorcón is gearing up for a week of significant events, including the XXXV Firefighters' Memorial and the San José de Valderas Festivities, promising activities for the entire community.

This May 4, 2026, the town of Alcorcón begins a new week full of events. Following a weekend of celebrations such as Labor Day, Community of Madrid Day, and Mother's Day, the local agenda focuses on an emotional tribute and popular festivities.
The Alcorcón City Council will organize the XXXV Firefighters' Memorial, an event dedicated to professionals who lost their lives in the line of duty. The ceremony will take place at the Unified Security Center at 12:00 PM and will be attended by local authorities, including the Fire Chief, the Security Councilor, and the Mayor. During the event, a commemorative plaque will be unveiled, and a new area in Darwin Park will be inaugurated, featuring a themed children's playground inspired by the work of firefighters.
Additionally, the San José de Valderas 2026 Festivities will be held exceptionally on a single day, Saturday, May 9. The program will be concentrated around the School of Music and will center on the 10th anniversary of the neighborhood's Giants and Big-Heads. Activities such as a 'plantada', a grand parade with invited groups, children's activities, a foam party, and a commemorative act are expected. The day will conclude with proposals for all audiences: a popular paella, 'chupinazo', children's bull runs, and several DJ music sessions until night, maintaining the participatory nature of these festivities.
In sports, AD Alcorcón has seen its chances of reaching the promotion play-off significantly reduced after their defeat against Europa. Despite a strong performance in several phases of the match, the team failed to capitalize on their opportunities, and the expulsion of a player, along with a questioned refereeing, marked the game. On the other hand, the women's team, Arriva AD Alcorcón, became runner-up in the Copa de la Reina Iberdrola after losing 1-4 to Melilla CD Torreblanca in the final, concluding a remarkable run in the tournament.
