The municipality of Alcorcón has been the scene of two notable events: the awards ceremony for the 'Active Youth in Health' initiative and an upcoming family puppet festival.

The Hospital Universitario Fundación Alcorcón hosted the awards ceremony for the third edition of 'Active Youth in Health – The Heartbeat of Alcorcón'. This initiative, aimed at promoting healthy cardiovascular habits among young people, involved 320 students from four educational centers. The first prize went to a team from IES Josefina Aldecoa for their slogan “Two paths, one heart, you choose how to care for it”, with an honorable mention for students from the Colegio Virgen del Remedio. The winning projects will be used as informational material during Heart Week 2026.
Furthermore, the Plaza de los Títeres will host a free, festive outdoor event for the whole family on Saturday, June 6, from 12:00 to 14:00, at Calle Siete Ojos. The event, organized by the Centro del Títere in collaboration with the Alcorcón City Council and sponsored by the Community of Madrid, will feature puppet shows such as 'Ni pío' by Títeres desde abajo, a parade of giant masks inspired by Pablo Picasso, and children's workshops for creating take-home puppets.
The city has also been recognized for its environmental management, retaining for the second consecutive year the highest distinction of the 'Three Blue Birds'. This award, granted by the associations ASPAPEL and REPACAR, acknowledges excellence in paper and cardboard collection and recycling. In 2025, Alcorcón recycled 5,004 tons of paper and cardboard, a 3.48% increase from the previous year.
Additionally, the Club Amigos por la Inclusión held a successful Charity Race last Sunday, which mobilized thousands of citizens to support the inclusion of people with disabilities. alcorconhoy.com is also celebrating reaching 70,000 followers on Instagram with a raffle for two signed AD Alcorcón jerseys.
