The MUACA Fest, the end-of-course showcase for the El Circódromo Circus School, will transform Alcorcón's Plaza de Reyes de España this weekend. The free-access event will feature aerial performances, acrobatic exercises, and the participation of guest artists, culminating the students' work throughout the course with a large-format production including aerial structures and various circus disciplines.
The Councilor for Culture and Festivities, Miriam Benítez, has highlighted the importance of initiatives like El Circódromo's, which "embody the circus and street art tradition, something that is part of our identity and that we must continue to defend as a municipality."
The circus performances will take place on Saturday and Sunday, both days starting at 7:00 PM in the aforementioned Plaza de Reyes de España.
Alcorcón's cultural offering for this weekend expands with other proposals. On Saturday, the Plaza de Siete Ojos will host a new edition of ‘La Plaza de los Títeres’ (from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM), featuring performances, children's workshops, giant masks, live painting, and a book fair.
Family activities will continue on Sunday at 11:30 AM in the Centro del Títere with the baby workshop ‘A la playa en bicicleta’ (To the beach by bike), designed for children aged 0 to 3 years, combining music, sounds, and puppets for sensory stimulation.
Additionally, the José Hierro and Almudena Grandes libraries will offer the summer camp ‘Un verano de cuento’ (A summer of stories), coordinated by Nelson Calderón for children aged 7 to 12, focusing on reading activities to foster creativity.
The exhibition program includes the display ‘Abanicos pintados a mano’ (Hand-painted fans) by local artist Silvia Trujillo at the Centro Cívico Fuente Cisneros throughout June. This exhibition will be complemented by a sustainable fashion show and a performance by Dúo Sintonía.
Finally, the Museo de Arte en Vidrio de Alcorcón (Alcorcón Museum of Glass Art) keeps open the exhibitions ‘Postales desde las colonias de los hermanos de la Torre’ (Postcards from the colonies of the Torre brothers) and ‘En suspensión’ (In suspension), by Jennifer Parker and José Carlos Espinel.
