The Alcorcón City Council has been praised as an example of best practices in the extraordinary migrant regularization process, as stated by the Government Delegate in the Community of Madrid during a visit to the town.

The Government Delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, has highlighted the work of the Alcorcón City Council in implementing the extraordinary migrant regularization process. This assessment was made during a visit to the 'Adolfo Suárez' Social Services center, where an Information and Guidance Service on Foreigner Matters has been established.
During the visit, Martín was accompanied by the Mayor of Alcorcón, Candelaria Testa, and the Secretary of State for Migration, Pilar Cancela. This service offers personalized information and support in processing applications with competent bodies within this process, including obtaining vulnerability certificates.
The Government Delegate positively valued the support measures implemented by the Council, which include assistance, registration, and municipal census services, as well as the organization of informative and accompanying talks for migrants. During the visit, institutional representatives learned about the advisory service's operation and attended a migrant assistance session.

"When there's a will, there's a way."

The Secretary of State, Pilar Cancela, described the actions of the Alcorcón City Council as “the clearest example of what administrative cooperation should be.” She also defined the extraordinary regularization process as “an opportunity” for the country, its autonomous communities, and its municipalities, emphasizing its social and economic benefits.

"First, we must think about people, but for those who want to see it from a purely economic perspective, it is also beneficial because it will allow continued growth thanks to the contribution of migrants who are already in Spain and who will be able to contribute to sustaining the welfare state."

Furthermore, Cancela rejected hate speech and confrontational stances towards the migrant population, emphasizing that “a country of rights is being built.” Martín, for his part, reiterated that the Spanish Government seeks solutions and urged other Madrid administrations to collaborate in this process, following Alcorcón's example.
