A serious traffic accident occurred on the M-404 road, within the municipality of Torrejón de Velasco, this Wednesday. A 22-year-old man sustained severe injuries following a head-on collision between the car he was driving and a truck.

The incident happened shortly before 7:30 AM, according to information provided by the 112 of the Community of Madrid. The driver of the truck involved in the crash was unharmed.

The sole occupant of the car, the injured young man, was trapped inside the vehicle. The intervention of the Community of Madrid Firefighters was necessary to extricate him.

Once freed, SUMMA paramedics attended to him at the accident scene. The young man presented with a severe traumatic brain injury and an open fracture of the left leg. After being stabilized and intubated, he was airlifted to 12 de Octubre Hospital in serious condition.

The Guardia Civil has launched an investigation to determine the exact causes of the accident.
