The Community of Madrid has carried out the demolition of two illegal buildings in the municipality of Chinchón, in an effort to safeguard the protected land of the Vega del Tajuña.

The operation, conducted after repeated non-compliance with administrative resolutions, aims to halt the expansion of unauthorized developments and preserve an area of significant agricultural and natural value.
The area, traditionally dedicated to irrigated crops, has suffered progressive deterioration in recent years due to the abandonment of agricultural activity and the emergence of scattered residential constructions, which are incompatible with current urban planning regulations.
The demolished structures were located on protected non-developable land, affected by contamination from discharges into public waterways, an area where building and land subdivision are expressly prohibited.
Concurrently, the Directorate General of Urban Planning has identified an illegal division of land into 25 independent plots in the same area, without the necessary permits, indicating active commercialization with earthmoving and sales announcements.
The regional Executive warns that the consolidation of this situation could lead to the creation of an illegal residential development on non-developable land protected for its high agricultural productivity, which is incompatible with current regulations.
In response, the Community has initiated the procedure for restoring urban legality and the corresponding sanctioning process. The operation involved technicians from the Deputy Directorate General of Urban Inspection and Discipline, along with units from the Civil Guard and Local Police of Chinchón and Morata de Tajuña.
According to the Urban Inspection and Discipline Plan, 13 demolitions have been executed in less than a year, along with 173 inspections, 66 urban discipline proceedings, and 65 sanctioning proceedings. The Ministry of Environment, Agriculture, and Interior reiterates that such illegal constructions compromise territorial protection and create legal uncertainty for citizens.
