The Sevilla la Nueva City Council has launched a new edition of its reusable cup campaign for the Patron Saint Festivals. The initiative, which aims to reduce waste generation and promote cleaner, more sustainable celebrations, continues the effort from last year, when around 1,000 reusable cups were distributed.
It is estimated that the distribution of 1,000 disposable polypropylene cups could have prevented at least 8 kilograms of single-use plastic. The reuse of each cup multiplies this saving, significantly contributing to waste reduction.
This year, the campaign features the 'Vaso PATOlavida' (Duck-Life Cup), a design that combines an environmental awareness message with a fun touch. The campaign's image, showing a duck and a partridge toasting with the reusable cup, symbolizes the collaboration between the Sevilla la Nueva City Council and the Mesón La Perdiz, an establishment actively participating in the initiative.
Reusable cups will be available at the Mesón La Perdiz (C/ Mayor, 27) with a 1 euro deposit. Users can use the cup during the festivals and return it to reclaim their deposit, thus promoting its reuse and preventing the generation of numerous plastic waste items.
The main objective of this initiative is to promote sustainable habits among residents and visitors, which, when shared by everyone, can have a significant impact on the cleanliness and preservation of public spaces. The Sevilla la Nueva City Council thanks the Mesón La Perdiz for its collaboration and encourages citizens to join this effort for the joint care of the municipality.
