The Sierra Norte Regional Humanities Center has scheduled a diverse cultural agenda for May, including film screenings, a dramatized reading of Lope de Vega, and various art exhibitions.

Among the cinematic offerings is the screening of Ciudad sin sueño (City Without Dream), a Spanish film from 2025 directed by Guillermo Galoe. The film tells the story of a 15-year-old boy living in Europe's largest irregular settlement, facing an uncertain future as demolitions threaten his home. The screening, scheduled for Friday, May 1 at 7:00 PM in the Auditorium, will include a discussion with the director. The film has received recognition at the Cannes Critics' Week 2025 and the Goya Awards 2026.
Additionally, the IV Puebla Film Festival and the IV Sierra Norte Short Film Festival will present a short film series on Sunday, May 3 at 12:00 PM. This festival, held in Puebla de la Sierra, aims to promote cinematic culture in the rural environment of the Sierra del Rincón, an area with limited access to cinemas. The event will include a local section to give a voice to the region's inhabitants.
In the theatrical realm, a dramatized reading of Lope de Vega's La Gatomaquia will be offered, a work that narrates the battle of two cats for the love of a female cat. The performance, adapted and directed by Brenda Escobedo, will feature the voices of Emilio Gavira and David Luque. The show will take place on Saturday, May 2 at 8:00 PM in the Auditorium.
The program also includes the workshop Alas y susurros (Wings and Whispers), a space for encounter and discovery designed especially for early childhood, focusing on sensory stimulation and free exploration. Led by Henar Hernández from Camino Imaginario, it will be held on Saturday, May 2 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM and requires prior registration.
Regarding exhibitions, the center will host Más allá del Olimpo: Arte y Mitología (Beyond Olympus: Art and Mythology), an immersive journey through the symbolic universe of myths through the works of contemporary artists from various cultural traditions. The exhibition, which brings together works by professors from Fine Arts Faculties in Mexico, Chile, Italy, Poland, and Spain, can be visited from May 8 to 24. Furthermore, the exhibition Arte Intruso: canto de sirenas (Intrusive Art: Siren Song), by Artusnow and Vera Moreno, invites visitors to immerse themselves in a dreamlike marine world through digital photographs and poems, available from April 22 to May 24.
