This ensemble, comprising musicians and enthusiasts of the kokle, Latvia's traditional string instrument, brings together performers residing in various Western European countries. The group was founded in 2017 with the aim of keeping Latvian musical tradition alive and uniting players of this instrument.
Under the direction of Aiga Ožehovska, Vakareiropas Koklētāji has participated in significant events such as the Latvian Song and Dance Festival in Esslingen, Germany, in 2022, and the XXVII National Latvian Song and Dance Festival in Riga in 2023.
The concert program will feature a blend of traditional Latvian melodies, vocal pieces, and a selection of popular dances from different European nations. Additionally, the ensemble has prepared performances linked to San Lorenzo, collaborating with two local instructors: David Huerta (dulzaina) and Víctor Gallego (percussion), both from the Maestro Alonso Municipal School of Music and Dance.
The San Lorenzo City Council invites residents and visitors to attend this unique opportunity to experience Latvia's rich musical heritage. The event will take place on Friday, September 25th, starting at 6:30 PM, at the Casa de Cultura. Admission is free until full capacity is reached.
