In a recent interview on Canal 33, Mayor Eduardo Fernández highlighted that 2026 will be a crucial year for the execution of numerous initiatives planned during his term. Among the most relevant projects are a third phase of asphalt paving and sidewalks, the creation of new parks, a multi-purpose building with capacity for 6,500 people, a 4,500 square meter sports center, a new library, and the commencement of works for the Guardia Civil and Local Police barracks.
“"Our policy is to be close to them, to solve problems, always in the best possible way."
Fernández emphasized the importance of proximity to residents, a cornerstone of his administration since taking office. He stated that the council has maintained and improved essential services such as waste collection and park and school maintenance, and is now preparing for the execution phase of larger projects. The City Council's strong economic position, with over 24 million euros, allows for these investments, including the multi-purpose building and the new library.
The new multi-purpose building, with a capacity for 6,500 people, is designed to host patron saint and Christmas festivities, sports and music events, and will include a tertiary reserve for commercial premises. The goal is to organize at least two monthly events and to grant bullfighting festivities. In the sports sector, the sports center, co-financed with the Community of Madrid through the PIR Plan, will provide space for local sports clubs.
Regarding urban growth, the City Council respects the general plan from 1998, aiming for "sustained and calm" development. In housing, nearly 200 homes have been built for young people, and the execution of the remaining 500 social housing units is guaranteed, prioritizing long-term registered residents. Additionally, the third asphalt and sidewalk operation will be completed, covering 75% of the municipal area, and the industrial park access roundabout, pending for 25 years, will be finished before the end of the year.
Security remains a priority, with Villanueva del Pardillo established as “the safest municipality in the Community of Madrid.” This April, construction will begin on the Guardia Civil and Local Police barracks, and ten new local police officers will join in June. For seniors, the center has been renovated, and the cafeteria is expected to open in May. Environmentally, the new SIGAUS forest with a thousand trees has been promoted, an urban reforestation project.
