The match, played at the Zaburdón sports complex, was decided by a penalty scored by Franziska Muller in the 17:27 minute, which Spanish goalkeeper Hada Sánchez-Pascuala could not save. Despite the elimination, the team, coached by Magnus Oloson, has been praised for its great performance, competing head-to-head with the Swiss and achieving significant victories in the group stage and round of 16.
Meanwhile, the men's national team also lost by a narrow margin (4-5) to Germany in an exciting quarter-final match. After an epic comeback in the round of 16 against Czechia, the players, entirely from CDE El Valle, fought until the end. Goals from Antonio Salazar, Sergio Martín, and Ignacio García were not enough against German efficiency, with goals from Frederic Thile (2), Philipp Wilbrand (2), and Niklas Fiemel (2).
Both Spanish teams have had an outstanding championship, exceeding expectations and demonstrating the growth of floorball in Spain. The group stage included draws and significant victories, culminating in qualification for the round of 16, where they advanced before falling in the quarter-finals.
