The Soto del Real City Council has initiated a criminological audit in collaboration with the Professional College of Criminology of the Community of Madrid, an innovative project to evaluate and optimize public security in the municipality.
This initiative, considered pioneering in the Community of Madrid, seeks to go beyond immediate response in citizen security. The process involves a deep and technical analysis of the current management of the Local Police, with the aim of identifying areas for improvement and anticipating future challenges in the municipality.
Criminology experts will examine the performance of officers, their work tools, and their perception of their own service. The methodology employed by the Professional College of Criminology of the Community of Madrid (CPCM) will include scientific questionnaires, in-depth interviews with police commanders, and preliminary meetings to understand the internal structure of the force.

"With all this, we will prepare a report with conclusions and recommendations, triangulating the information provided by commanders and agents."
The audit will also integrate the vision of the Security manager and municipal spokespersons, ensuring a plural approach. This project underscores the need to manage security with verified data and planned strategies, rather than relying solely on intuition.
The initiative focuses on long-term planning, recognizing that public security management often concentrates on immediate solutions. The mayor of the municipality has highlighted the importance of conducting in-depth evaluations to make better decisions and plan the future of citizen security.

"In security matters, we usually act with immediacy, but we do not always carry out in-depth evaluations that allow us to make better decisions and plan for the future."
Despite the areas for improvement that the audit may indicate, Soto del Real already boasts an advanced technological base. The Local Police is highly digitized, has eliminated paper use, and is telematically connected to the SARA network and the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT). Furthermore, the agreement with Eucaris will allow for European data exchange, placing the municipality above average in services and resources.
Coordination between security forces, such as the Civil Guard, will also be analyzed to ensure smooth and effective collaboration. This comprehensive approach seeks to optimize resources and enhance citizen protection, setting a precedent for other municipalities in the region.
