The group Vakareiropas koklētāji (Western European Kokle Players), comprising musicians and enthusiasts of the kokle, a traditional Latvian string instrument, residing in Western Europe, will perform a concert in San Lorenzo de El Escorial. The performance is scheduled for Friday, September 25th, at 6:30 PM at the Casa de Cultura.
The ensemble, founded in 2017 under the direction of Aiga Ožehovska, aims to keep Latvian musical tradition alive. They have participated in festivals such as the Latvian Song and Dance Festival in Germany (2022) and the XXVII National Latvian Song and Dance Festival in Riga (2023).
The concert program will feature a blend of traditional Latvian music, vocal pieces, and a selection of popular dances from various European countries. Additionally, the group will perform pieces linked to the venue, collaborating with two professors from the Maestro Alonso Municipal School of Music and Dance: David Huerta on the dulzaina and Víctor Gallego on percussion.
The San Lorenzo de El Escorial City Council invites residents and visitors to enjoy this cultural offering. Admission will be free until full capacity is reached.
