The installation of a Canadian step at the entrance to Descansadero del Campo, where the cattle track meets the M-608 road, aims to mitigate the risk of animals crossing onto the roads. This system, consisting of a grid or metal bars embedded in the ground, allows vehicles and people to pass but deters livestock and other animals from walking over it, thereby reducing dangers for both wildlife and drivers.
Additionally, the council has carried out improvement works on three sections of municipal paths. These include the Sierra path connecting Parque del Río with the Cañada Real Segoviana, another section of the Sierra between Cañada Real Segoviana and Los Palancares, and the path located behind the El Real de San Antonio urbanization.
The interventions have focused on smoothing the surfaces to ensure adequate transit conditions and on conditioning the ditches. The objective is to optimize rainwater drainage, preventing waterlogging and erosion that deteriorates the paths.
Part of these works, specifically two of the three sections, have been made possible thanks to a subsidy from the Community of Madrid. This aid was allocated to repair infrastructures damaged by heavy rains recorded in March 2025, allowing the municipality to cover costs without them falling entirely on local coffers.
“"We continue working to improve Soto's infrastructure."
These paths are frequently used by residents, hikers, and cyclists, so their good condition is crucial for the safety and comfort of those who use them daily or on weekends. Securing external funding is essential for medium-sized municipalities like Soto del Real, enabling them to maintain and improve their infrastructure network without affecting other essential services.
