The Special Group for High-Altitude Rescue (GERA) of the Community of Madrid Firefighters successfully carried out the rescue on Thursday, September 10. The incident occurred on the well-known Camino del Agua route in Cercedilla.
The victim, a 59-year-old hiker, experienced a painful hip dislocation that prevented him from continuing his journey. Given the challenging terrain, the intervention of GERA specialists was required.
GERA personnel were dispatched to the scene to immobilize the injured joint, stabilize the injured man, and proceed with his safe evacuation from the wooded area.
Once the hiker was brought to a point accessible by emergency vehicles, medical teams from SUMMA 112 took over. After initial on-site medical attention, an ambulance transported him to a hospital for the necessary trauma treatment.
