Six national teams, including Spain, will compete at the Juan Antonio Cuadrillero municipal sports center for the single available spot in the World Championship, which will be held in Riga from February 17th to 21st, 2027.
The participating teams are The Netherlands, France, Poland, Italy, Belgium, and the host nation, Spain. The Spanish squad aims to replicate their 2024 qualification, marking their second consecutive World Championship appearance.
The event was unveiled at a press conference attended by Miguel Prieto, president of the Spanish Unihockey-Floorball Association (AEUF), Carlos López, AEUF's general secretary, Diosdado Soto, mayor of Guadarrama, and Enrique Álvarez, the sports councilor.
Diosdado Soto expressed gratitude to the AEUF for selecting the town's sports facilities and highlighted the growing presence of floorball in Guadarrama, acknowledging players developed at the local club Los Bucardos, such as Jorge Rodríguez, Tanis Pérez, Álvaro Ayuso, and Pablo Barrado.
Miguel Prieto emphasized the preparedness of the Spanish U19 team, stating, "The Spain U19 team is well-prepared, with months of work reflecting the growth of Spanish floorball in youth categories."
The Spanish U19 national team comprises players from various clubs, including Los Bucardos from Guadarrama, Floorball Escorial, CUF Leganés, and CDE El Valle. Four players will serve as reserves.
The match schedule places Spain's debut against France on Tuesday, September 1st, at 7:00 PM. They will subsequently play against Poland (Wednesday 2nd, 7:00 PM), Belgium (Thursday 3rd, 7:00 PM), The Netherlands (Friday 4th, 7:00 PM), and conclude the group stage against Italy (Saturday 5th, 4:00 PM).
The ultimate goal is to qualify for the Riga 2027 World Championship, an event that will bring together the world's top junior national teams.
