The El Escorial City Council has launched the third edition of its Festival of Letters, a three-month cultural event aimed at fostering reading and creativity among residents.

This festival, taking place during April, May, and June, offers a diverse program designed for all ages, establishing itself as a key cultural event in the municipality.

"This initiative seeks to continue the broad cultural offerings available throughout the year in the municipality and to take advantage of the summer months for special activities such as the Book Fair, which attracts more attendees each year."

Activities began on April 23, coinciding with Book Day, with a storytelling session by Alicia Cuenteando. Additionally, from April 20 to 24, a special book liberation and gifting activity was held, promoting literary exchange among citizens.
During May, the program intensifies with reading animation workshops, such as 'Contamos y Creamos' (We Tell and Create), which will be held at the Casa de la Cultura on May 15 and 29. The 'La Noche' (The Night) Writing and Literature workshop will also take place on May 16.
The highlight of the festival will be the 2026 Book Fair, scheduled for May 22, 23, and 24. This event will feature nationally recognized authors, as well as local literary talents, offering book signings and public encounters.
The closing of this edition of the festival will occur in June with another session of the 'La Noche' Writing and Literature workshop, concluding three months dedicated to culture and literature in El Escorial.
