The El Escorial City Council has approved a modification to its Tax Ordinance, increasing the bonus from 3% to 4% for taxpayers who set up direct debit for their IBI (Property Tax) and waste (RSU) bills in two installments during 2027.

This measure, presented by the Treasury department, represents a further reduction in the tax burden for residents. The Special Payment Service (SEP), which allows for direct debit of IBI and waste bills, will be collected in the second half of the year, offering two payment options: in two installments (July and October) or in five (July to November).
The system, expanded since its launch in 2025, aims not only to reward users with a bonus but also to simplify procedures for the municipality's residents. The local government views this initiative very positively due to its direct impact on citizen benefits and anticipates an increase in applications for the 2-installment SEP, which will also enhance the efficiency of municipal finances through earlier collection of half of these receipts.
The application period for this bonus will be open from January 4 to May 4, 2027. Residents can complete the process easily and accessibly online through the 'Tributary Portal', selecting 'All Procedures' and then 'Special Payment System'. In-person applications are also available for those who require more assistance at the economic area on the 1st floor of the City Hall or at the Municipal Office of Los Arroyos.
