The regular season of Segunda Federación concluded last Sunday, May 3, with Rayo Majadahonda securing their spot in Primera Federación. The team from Majadahonda was crowned group champions, sealing a direct promotion that was celebrated by 3,400 fans at Cerro del Espino.
The decisive match against Rayo Vallecano B ended with a resounding 3-0 victory. Rayo Majadahonda demonstrated their superiority from the outset, with overwhelming dominance that led to the first goal by Álvaro Telis with a spectacular bicycle kick. The constant pressure and intensity of the home team stifled any attempts by the opponent, who ultimately conceded two own goals, effectively sealing the match.
“"Rayo Majadahonda is already champion and will be the team to be directly promoted to Primera Federación. Sanse's joy, after winning in Tenerife, lasted only three minutes. That's how long it took between Vander Teles' 0-1 and Telis' 1-0 for the Majariegos."
This promotion marks the club's return to the third tier of national football, two seasons after their last participation. Rayo Majadahonda finished the campaign with 70 points, standing out as the best away team in the category with 37 points earned on the road. This achievement comes after a failed attempt last season, where they fell in the playoff final.
The club, founded in 1976, will celebrate its 30th anniversary on September 13 as a Primera Federación team. The entity has previous experience of three seasons in this category, where it has played 114 regular league matches and one promotion playoff match. This success adds to its history, which includes a promotion to Segunda División in the 2018/19 season.
