The Community of Madrid has inaugurated the Publio Cordón Memorial Hospital in Pozuelo de Alarcón, a center that pays tribute to the career of a doctor and businessman, highlighting his commitment to health and innovation.
The inauguration ceremony, held this Monday, was attended by Her Royal Highness Infanta Elena, accompanied by the Minister of Health, Fátima Matute, and the mayor of the municipality, Paloma Tejero.
The new hospital seeks to perpetuate the memory of a relevant figure in Madrid's medicine and business, who was kidnapped and murdered in 1995.
“
"The opening of this hospital is much more than the opening of a new resource; it represents a firm commitment to health, innovation, and the continuous improvement of healthcare services in the region."
The minister also emphasized the “rigorous and humane” medicine that characterized the work of the honoree, a legacy that, according to her words, will continue to inspire healthcare in the new center.
For her part, the mayor defended “excellent, universal, and top-quality” public healthcare, while acknowledging the contribution of private healthcare, which “complements, innovates, invests, creates jobs, and decisively contributes” to Madrid's healthcare system as a whole.
“
"This Monday is an important day for Pozuelo, for Madrid, and for all of Spain, because much more than a hospital is being inaugurated: a project that is committed to life, excellence, and the freedom to choose the best healthcare."
