According to the political group, the municipal contribution to the project has soared from the initially estimated 168,000 euros to 1,249,000 euros. This increase is attributed to the loss of part of the European funding and 760,000 euros in unforeseen expenses.
The complaint follows a recent municipal communication, in which, according to the opposition group, the mayor acknowledges that the City Council will have to contribute 489,000 euros to the works. This figure exceeds the 168,000 euros that, according to the socialists, corresponded to 5% of the total cost if 95% funding from European funds had been maintained.
“"The municipal government presents these figures separately to minimize the scope of the real increase. The final result shows a significant cost overrun that, instead of being largely covered by the subsidy, will fall in a much greater amount on municipal coffers."
The party's spokesperson has demanded an urgent explanation from the mayor, accusing the local Executive of management that, in their words, is proving "very expensive" for the residents of Collado Villalba. The party had already warned in January about the risk of higher costs due to delays in project execution.
In addition to the increased municipal contribution, the socialists have also focused on the technical and economic documentation related to the work. The group continues to review certifications and has questions about the justification of unforeseen expenses and the processing of the file.
