The management of green area maintenance in Majadahonda has sparked a political controversy, with the opposition criticizing a councilwoman's response to repeated resident complaints about the lack of pruning.

The condition of hedges and shrubs in Majadahonda has been a subject of debate in the City Council, where a motion presented by a neighborhood group demanded improvements in pruning and maintenance. The councilwoman responsible for Environment responded to the criticism, labeling the opposition's demands as “propaganda.”

"To expect total results by a fixed date is not responsible management; it is propaganda, and quite bad propaganda at that."

An opposition councilor countered these statements, defending the residents' efforts in documenting deficiencies with photographs and videos. He emphasized that complaints are repeated annually due to a lack of municipal action and that, on previous occasions, opposition initiatives had led to necessary pruning being carried out.

"We are very sorry, but we will have to wear out the councilwoman, because we will continue to be relentless. These are complaints we receive from residents, and it is true that this is the second motion we present on the same topic because we continue to receive many complaints and grievances."

The opposition recalled that a similar motion presented in June 2025 had already highlighted the neglect of public and private plots, with overgrown shrubs posing fire risks and health problems. They assured that they would continue to insist until the city is properly maintained.
Among the areas most affected by the lack of maintenance were Santa María de la Cabeza street, where residents claim no pruning has occurred for over five years, Cerro del Aire, San Julián street with dry trees, San Blas street, Panamá street at the corner of Avenida España, the Fuente del Oro urbanization, Plaza de la Lealtad, and Granadilla.
The motion presented by the neighborhood group was supported by the 10 votes of the opposition (Vox, PSOE, and MM-IU), but it was rejected by the absolute majority of the Popular Party, which holds 15 votes.
