Collado Villalba improves pedestrian accessibility on A-6 with European funds

Improvement works on the overpass at kilometer 38.6 of the A-6 in Collado Villalba, with an investment of 832,803 euros from European funds, are set to conclude in June, enhancing pedestrian mobility and access to services for residents.

The Government Delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, visited Collado Villalba this Thursday to inspect the progress of improvement works on the overpass located at kilometer 38.6 of the A-6. This project, with a budget of 832,803 euros, is financed by European funds within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan. The works are expected to be completed by June.
The intervention, carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, focuses on creating an accessible pedestrian route. This new path will connect establishments and homes on the north service road (towards Coruña) with the urban center of Collado Villalba (via Honorio Lozano Avenue) and the south service road (towards Madrid).

"This is a "very necessary" project that responds to a real daily mobility need for the local residents, and it demonstrates the "total commitment" of the Spanish Government to the region in terms of infrastructure."

Francisco Martín was accompanied during his visit by Gloria Ramos, head of the Madrid Road Demarcation; Ramón Pavón, Councillor for Public Works of Collado Villalba Town Council, and other project officials. This initiative is part of a broader investment by the Spanish Government totaling nearly 40 million euros in the A-6 area, aimed at improving safety, mobility, and comfort for residents of Collado Villalba and neighboring municipalities such as Torrelodones and Las Rozas.
Specific improvements include widening the sidewalk on the Madrid side of the road connecting Honorio Lozano Avenue with the north service road, installing a new traffic-light-controlled pedestrian crossing, and enhancing lighting. Existing containment systems are also being upgraded, and a pedestrian crossing on the north service road has been relocated to improve safety.
