The initiative, part of the 'Knitting Has No Age' project, will take place on Friday, April 24th at 5:00 PM. Its main goal is to introduce participants to the traditional process of wool transformation, from fleece to skein. Attendees will have the opportunity to create a wool bracelet, experiencing this material firsthand.
The 'Knitting Has No Age' project is funded by 0.7% of the IRPF from the Community of Madrid and seeks to create spaces where people of different ages can share experiences and knowledge through working with wool. This program is developed in Collado Villalba, in a venue provided by the City Council in the Bajos de El Pontón, thus facilitating a meeting point for the community.
“"We emphasize the importance of supporting projects that stimulate intergenerational coexistence and recover traditional knowledge with a positive impact on the community."
The activity coincides with the celebration of European Wool Day, commemorated every April 9th, and in which La IAIA has actively participated, including a meeting in Ireland with other initiatives dedicated to wool culture. This integrates the Collado Villalba event into a broader movement that promotes the exchange of experiences and defends textile traditions as tools for social cohesion and community well-being.
Participation in 'From Sheep to Skein' is free, but requires prior registration. Those interested can reserve their spot by calling 611 84 82 82 or sending an email to the provided address.
