The municipal initiative 'Al cole en dos ruedas' in Tres Cantos has registered nearly 1,400 participations, aiming to foster sustainable mobility among Primary and Secondary students through the use of bicycles and scooters.

The program, implemented in public, private, and charter schools within the municipality, seeks to promote healthier and more sustainable transportation habits, coinciding with World Bicycle Day.
The initiative operates on a loyalty system using colored cards. Students receive a stamp for each trip made by bicycle or scooter, and completed cards can be exchanged for various gifts. The final challenge, requiring 35 stamps, rewards participants with tickets to a family activity, linking the achievement to Tres Cantos' 35th anniversary.
In addition to individual incentives, the educational center with the highest relative participation will receive a special reward during the upcoming European Mobility Week. The campaign has helped reduce vehicle presence around schools and encouraged families to adopt alternative modes of transport.
The project is supported by the Safe School Routes initiative, designed to enable students to travel to their educational centers autonomously and with enhanced safety. The program's participation figures align with World Bicycle Day, promoted by the United Nations to highlight the benefits of this transport mode.
Furthermore, there is a subsidy program for the acquisition of Electric Personal Mobility Vehicles (VMP), and plans are in place to continue developing new segregated bike lanes and expanding the existing cycling network to connect various points within the municipality through accessible and sustainable routes.
