Tres Cantos is preparing to host the fourth edition of 'Actívate y Dona 3C', an event that transforms sport into a tool for solidarity. The event, scheduled from September 11 to 27, will combine various sports activities with the collection of food and basic necessities for vulnerable families.
A significant novelty this year is the godmother role taken on by Carla Antonelli, a renowned LGTBI activist and former deputy of the Asamblea de Madrid. Her involvement stems from her strong commitment to equality, social rights, and solidarity. "It is an honor for us to have her as godmother," stated Esther García, the initiative's promoter, highlighting Antonelli's positive reception to the proposal.
Furthermore, 'Actívate y Dona 3C' is joining the European Week of Sport for the first time, under the #BeActive label and with the support of the Spanish High Council for Sports and the European Union. This recognition provides a significant boost to an initiative aiming to demonstrate the positive social impact of sports within the community.
The organization aims to surpass previous years' figures, where 1,301 kilos of products were collected in 2025. "This year, let's see if we can achieve those 20 kilos we were short of to break the record," mentioned Esther García.
The activity program is still open to new additions but will feature padel tournaments, masterclasses, exhibitions, matches, and open days. A new proposal will combine role-playing games with virtual reality headsets, alongside disciplines like yoga. The Michelin Foundation is joining this year, and efforts are underway to attract more local businesses.
The traditional wrestling show, a feature of previous editions, will not take place in September due to a lack of volunteers, although efforts are being made to reinstate it in November as part of a toy drive campaign.
The participation mechanism remains consistent: each activity requires a specific solidarity contribution. Donations are tailored to the type of event to diversify the collected items, including non-perishable foods, breakfast items, preserves, pre-cooked legumes, and hygiene products, considering the needs of the beneficiary families.
The collected goods will be distributed among social entities in Tres Cantos, such as Cáritas Tres Cantos, the town's three parishes, and the El Buen Pastor church. Additionally, collaboration will extend to the association CTNNP1, dedicated to a rare neurodegenerative disease, through direct financial contributions.
This year, the Tres Cantos City Council is not providing financial support for the event following a disagreement with the Sports Department. Esther García expressed regret over this absence, particularly during the municipality's 35th anniversary and for a four-year-old project promoting grassroots sports and solidarity.
The definitive program will be progressively published on the website and social media channels of the Tres Cantos Neighborhood Association, as well as its new WhatsApp channel.
