The Community of Madrid has authorized a contract of over 500,000 euros for the care of livestock intended for research, the improvement of native breeds, and the application of obtained knowledge in the agri-food sector.

The work will be carried out over 24 months, between 2027 and 2028, with herds at the Center for Animal Selection and Reproduction (CENSYRA), located in Colmenar Viejo, and the Madrid Institute for Rural, Agrarian and Food Research and Development (IMIDRA), in Aranjuez. The responsible company will be selected through an open tender, and the budget will cover staff salaries and other necessary expenses.
At CENSYRA, the company will be responsible for the daily care of horses, sheep, goats, and cows, the supply of fodder and feed, and the cleaning and disinfection of facilities. It will also maintain enclosures and fencing.
At the experimental farm La Chimenea of IMIDRA, in Aranjuez, tasks will include the care of SACHS type minipigs and cattle at the Testing Center. Fodder and hay bales will be transported, silos and feed stores will be managed, and yards and corrals will be cleaned. Staff will also assist in restraining animals during weight checks and veterinary treatments.
