The Tres Cantos City Council has presented a positive assessment of the interventions carried out during the summer months, highlighting the completion of 95% of the planned actions in the public space renovation, conservation, and conditioning plan. These works, coordinated by various departments, have been complemented by progress on urban transformation projects and the reinforcement of essential services.
Mayor Jesús Moreno stated that these improvements already made in schools, sports facilities, and public spaces allow the city to start September in better condition. Among the notable projects is the Salón Urbano, an axis of over six kilometers with a global investment of 6.5 million euros, which has continued its development in sections of Avenida de los Encuartes and Avenida de los Actores. The remodeling of Paseo de los Andes has also begun, and works will soon start on Avenida de La Luz, Olmo street, and La Fragua street, in addition to progress on the remodeling of Parque de Embarcaciones and the paths of Parque Central.
The Department of Public Services has invested around 200,000 euros in the conservation and conditioning of parks and green areas. New species with lower water consumption have been incorporated, irrigation systems improved, and maintenance work carried out in dog areas and on urban furniture. Highlights include interventions in the lagoon of Parque Central and the pond in Sector Islas, as well as the renovation of the Fuente de la Puerta de Madrid with LED technology. Remodeling works for the children's areas of Foresta and Descubridores are also progressing.
The ‘Vacaciones Seguras’ (Secure Holidays) program has enhanced the protection of homes and commercial establishments and will remain active until September 30. This free 24-hour service allows, among other measures, for a spare key to be deposited at the Local Police facilities for a rapid response to incidents.
In the educational sector, 4 million euros have been invested in reforms in the nine public schools, including new air conditioning systems and renovations in classrooms, dining halls, and recreational areas. In sports, the artificial turf of the Jaime Mata football field has been renewed (nearly 445,000 euros), and the tennis courts at the Centro Deportivo Embarcaciones have been remodeled, now featuring the city's first pickleball court (over 118,000 euros). Progress is also being made on the future Pabellón de Pádel Indoor and the Complejo Deportivo Parque Norte.
The municipal program ‘Abierto por Vacaciones’ (Open During Holidays) has offered family reconciliation, training, and leisure activities for all ages, with over 5,000 participants. Notable events include the ‘Verano Universitario de Tres Cantos’ (nearly 1,000 attendees) and the Municipal Schools of Artistic Education (over 200 participants). The VI edition of ‘Veladas en el Lago’ (Evenings at the Lake) gathered 13,000 people. Municipal libraries have also carried out initiatives like Summer Books and Ola de Verano, extending book loans.
The mayor concluded by highlighting that the Municipal Government begins September with achieved objectives and new challenges to continue making Tres Cantos a city of excellence.
