The exhibition, titled “Eduardo Arroyo: the origin of an artist,” is open to the public at the Martín Chirino hall until May 4. This collection of ink works, which were published in the French magazine Point de Vue – Images du Monde, corresponds to a significant period in the artist's career, marked by his exile.
The drawings reveal the early development of Arroyo's artistic language, characterized by deep irony, social critique, and a strong narrative component. The exhibition invites a journey through the foundational moment of Eduardo Arroyo (1937-2018), before he consolidated his position as a key figure in European contemporary art, highlighting his versatility as a painter, sculptor, engraver, writer, and set designer.
“"These drawings are not only the beginning of his career: they are also the starting point of Arroyo's artistic language."
According to curator Álvaro Alcázar, these initial works are fundamental to understanding the artist's evolution, allowing the public to approach a phase in which Arroyo began to forge his identity through drawing. The exhibition is open to the public from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and on Saturdays, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at Avenida Baunatal, 18.
Additionally, two guided tours have been scheduled for April 14 and 21, between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM, offering an opportunity to delve deeper into the context and meaning of the exhibited pieces. With this initiative, San Sebastián de los Reyes reaffirms its commitment to cultural dissemination, bringing to the public exhibitions featuring relevant figures of 20th-century Spanish art.
