The San Sebastián de los Reyes City Council has approved a historic budget of 110 million euros for 2026, a 7% increase from the previous year, aiming to strengthen essential services and ease the tax burden on citizens.

The approval of these accounts in an extraordinary municipal plenary session marks a milestone in the economic management of San Sebastián de los Reyes. The plan seeks an innovative model that increases total revenue while simultaneously reducing tax pressure on taxpayers, challenging conventional logic.
The strategy to achieve this balance is based on an intensive fight against tax fraud and the regularization of urban situations that previously did not contribute adequately. A key measure is the 25% reduction in the Capital Gains Tax, which is estimated to save families 1.5 million euros starting next year, offering direct support for property ownership and savings in an inflationary context.

"This is a budget for everyone and by everyone, in whose preparation the needs of each of the families that make up this municipality have been taken into account."

Marcos Zurita · Councillor for Economy and Finance
Regarding security, investment will increase by 6%, exceeding one million euros, complemented by 8 million euros allocated to Local Police personnel. The goal is to maintain San Sebastián de los Reyes as one of the safest cities in Spain. Street cleaning will also see a significant improvement, with an increase of almost two million euros, reaching a total of over 13 million, 16% more than the previous period. This investment will allow for the acquisition of more efficient machinery and a 100,000 euro plan for graffiti removal.
Social welfare is a fundamental pillar of the budget, with the incorporation of six new professionals in the area and an investment exceeding one million euros to improve services such as home assistance and meal delivery. Allocations for family reconciliation, educational programs, and nursery schools will increase by 10%, reaching 360,000 euros. Equality policies will see a 20% increase, with an additional 22% for aid to victims of gender violence.
Urbanizations will receive 37% more aid, aiming to equalize the quality of services across all areas of the municipality. Support for the local productive sector is strengthened with a 29% increase in Local Development and a 50% increase in Employment, including the creation of a Business Attraction Office. The municipality's own investment has grown from 470,000 euros in 2022 to over one million euros in 2026, allowing for the renovation of streets and public roads with a 32% increase in maintenance, up to almost 6.7 million euros. Culture and sports also benefit with increases of 23% and 10% respectively, consolidating the social and leisure offerings of the locality.
