The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has visited Valdecarros, one of the major urban developments in the southeast of the capital. In this area, more than 10,000 protected homes will be promoted, distributed between 7,400 from the Social Housing Agency (AVS) and another 2,600 from the Plan Vive for affordable rental housing.
Ayuso stated that the regional government believes in the freedom to buy, rent, and invest without obstacles, and that housing scarcity is solved by increasing the supply. The project in Valdecarros will expand the residential offer in an area that will feature 51,656 properties, of which 55% (over 28,000) will have some form of public protection.
The head of the regional executive added that it is a city within Madrid, an exceptional opportunity to address the serious problem of housing access in Spain, particularly affecting young people and the middle classes. Valdecarros covers an area of 19 million square meters, where approximately 155,000 people are estimated to reside and around 70,000 direct jobs will be generated, with an estimated total investment of 8 billion euros.
Construction of the first buildings is expected to begin before the end of the current year, which will involve the construction of over 13,300 new homes.
