The Móstoles City Council, in collaboration with the Spanish Association Against Cancer, has launched the 'Oncological Physical Exercise Unit – Southwest Space' program to enhance the quality of life for cancer patients.
A total of 40 oncological patients from Móstoles and the southern area of Madrid are participating in the 'Oncological Physical Exercise Unit – Southwest Space' initiative. The program, developed by the Department of Sports and Health of the Móstoles City Council in conjunction with the Spanish Association Against Cancer of Madrid, aims to promote health and well-being through adapted physical activity.
The mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports and Health, Ángel Álvarez, visited the physical exercise sessions taking place at the Villafontana Sports Center from Monday to Friday mornings.
Adapted physical exercise offers numerous benefits, including improved strength and muscle mass preservation, reduced cancer-related fatigue, enhanced cardiorespiratory capacity, support for bone health, and promotion of metabolic health, impacting both physical and emotional well-being.
The program is characterized by being safe, individualized, and supervised. Each participant undergoes an initial assessment, and sessions are tailored to their specific needs, clinical situation, and functional capacity.
