The incident occurred last Thursday, shortly after 11:20 AM, when the calm of a street in Tres Cantos was disrupted by shouts from several people chasing an individual. The suspect, wearing a white cap, had stolen 900 euros from an ATM and was fleeing on foot.

Among the passersby who heard the alarms was a Civil Guard officer who was not on duty or in uniform. Despite this, the agent reacted immediately and joined the pursuit of the thief.

The chase was brief. Upon finding himself cornered, the alleged perpetrator chose to discard the loot, throwing the 900 euros to the ground. He then quickly got into a vehicle waiting nearby and managed to escape before he could be apprehended.

Thanks to the intervention of the off-duty officer, the stolen money was fully recovered. The Civil Guard of Tres Cantos has launched an investigation to identify and arrest both the thief and the driver of the getaway vehicle, based on the suspect's description and the circumstances of the escape.
