The Colmenar Viejo School Olympics will bring together students aged between 6 and 12 for various sports competitions. Activities will be held in the mornings, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at two key municipal facilities: the Martín Colmenarejo Municipal Sports Center and the Lorenzo Rico Sports Complex.
The program is structured in two phases, adapted to different educational levels. Students from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade of Primary School will compete between May 11 and 13 at the Martín Colmenarejo Sports Center. Subsequently, from May 19 to 21, it will be the turn of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders at the Lorenzo Rico Sports Complex.
Participants will be organized into color-coded groups, facilitating efficient rotation among the 14 planned sports stations. This methodology aims to ensure equitable participation for all groups and promote interaction among students from different educational centers.
Sports disciplines range from athletics events like speed, jumps, and relays, to team sports such as football, handball, judo, and beach volleyball. Additionally, multi-sport and cooperative games, specifically designed for each age group, will be included to instill healthy habits and values like respect, solidarity, and fair play.
To ensure accessibility and smooth execution of the events, the organization has planned various measures. Each station will feature pictograms and explanatory signs in Spanish and English, along with a time control system using hourglasses. A bilingual speaker will energize the days, facilitating communication during the competitions.
A notable aspect of these Olympics is the inclusion of the Champions Team, a group of students with special educational needs. These students will participate in adapted sports activities and inclusive games, accompanied by students from the higher degree in Sports Teaching and Socio-Sports Animation at IES Ángel Corella.
The organization has also implemented measures for the well-being of participants, such as providing caps, water, and juices for hydration. Students are advised to wear sports clothing and footwear, bring their own water bottle, and use sun protection, which will be mandatory.
