The municipality of Colmenar Viejo is preparing for a new edition of its Vocational Training Fair, a consolidated event now in its fourth call. The main purpose is to provide young people, who are about to make decisions about their professional future, with the opportunity to learn firsthand about the training options available in the town, avoiding travel to other cities.
The fair will be held at the Youth House, located at 16 Carretera Hoyo de Manzanares street. On Tuesday, May 12, the hours will be from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. On Wednesday, May 13, the schedule will be extended from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the morning and from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the afternoon.
This event is the result of collaboration between the two vocational training centers in the municipality, IES ‘Ángel Corella’ and EFA ‘Valdemilanos’, with the support of the Colmenar Viejo City Council and the Association of Entrepreneurs and Self-Employed of Colmenar Viejo (Aseyacovi). This synergy between the educational and business sectors allows attendees to compare theory with the reality of the job market.
The inauguration will take place on Tuesday, May 12 at 10:00 AM, with the presence of local and regional authorities. Subsequently, at 11:00 AM, a presentation titled ‘FP open itinerary: We educate for employment, entrepreneurship, and university’ will be given, highlighting the opportunities offered by Vocational Training for both entering the job market and continuing university studies. At 11:30 AM, a round table titled ‘Success Stories’ will bring together professionals and entrepreneurs who have built their careers through FP studies.
Throughout both days, Secondary and Baccalaureate students from Colmenar Viejo schools will be able to visit the informational stands to learn about the various training cycles. On Wednesday, May 13 in the afternoon, the fair will open its doors to students from the Adult Education Center (CEPA) of Colmenar Viejo, thus extending its reach to different training profiles.

The training offer in Colmenar Viejo is broad and diversified. IES ‘Ángel Corella’ offers Basic Grade cycles (electricity and electronics, administrative services), Intermediate Grade (microcomputer systems and networks, administrative management, electrical and automatic installations, and socio-sports teaching and animation) and Higher Grade (administration and finance, electrotechnical and automated systems, multiplatform application development, and web application development).
For its part, EFA ‘Valdemilanos’ specializes in the socio-health and food sectors, with Intermediate Grade cycles (care for people in situations of dependency, auxiliary nursing care, and pharmacy and parapharmacy) and Higher Grade (early childhood education, imaging for diagnosis and nuclear medicine, social integration, clinical and biomedical laboratory, and processes and quality in the food industry). This variety covers sectors with high labor demand today, from technology to healthcare, as well as administration and social services.
