The Colmenar Viejo City Council has urgently demanded solutions from Renfe regarding "continuous incidents" on the C-4 commuter line, calling for improvements in frequency, punctuality, and user information.

The discontent of the residents of Colmenar Viejo due to constant incidents on the C-4 commuter line has been formally communicated to Renfe. The council demands solutions for the "delays and cancellations" affecting thousands of users in their connection to Madrid and other municipalities in the region.
Mayor Carlos Blázquez and Mobility Councilor Isabel Álvarez met with Renfe officials, including Director General of Institutional Relations José Luis Blanco and Director of Cercanías Madrid Sonia Ferrero. During the meeting, the "concern and dissatisfaction" of citizens regarding the "continuous incidents, delays, cancellations, and service suspensions" they experience daily were presented.
Blázquez emphasized the need for an "urgent" improvement in the service's reliability and punctuality, which impacts thousands of residents using Cercanías for their commutes to work and educational centers. Back in February, the mayor had sent a letter to the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, denouncing the situation and requesting "immediate measures" against what he described as a "constant" that "gravely harms the daily lives of our citizens".
The City Council reiterated that "repeated delays, sudden cancellations, and service suspensions without prior notice are improper for an essential public service." The situation is exacerbated, according to the council, by improvement works on the M-607 road, involving an investment of nearly 40 million euros and causing mobility disruptions in the area.
"If we administrations encourage the use of public transport, it is our responsibility to guarantee a quality service with sufficient guarantees to achieve sustainable, efficient, and environmentally committed mobility," stated Blázquez. The mayor insisted that residents "need a reliable Cercanías, with sufficient frequencies and clear, transparent user information."
During the meeting, Renfe was formally requested to increase peak hour frequencies, strictly adhere to established schedules, and substantially improve user information to prevent cancellations and suspensions without prior notice. Renfe Cercanías reminded the council of an official WhatsApp communication channel for updated information on incidents.
The Colmenar Viejo City Council has emphasized that it will continue "permanent" monitoring of the situation and demanding the necessary improvements from the competent administrations to ensure a Cercanías service that meets the needs of the municipality's residents.
