The Community of Madrid has announced that skier Audrey Pascual, a resident of San Sebastián de los Reyes, will receive the Grand Cross of the Order of Dos de Mayo on May 2nd, in recognition of her exceptional career and ability to overcome challenges in adaptive sports.

This award, granted by the regional government, highlights Pascual's trajectory. At just 21 years old, she has already achieved significant success, including two golds, one silver, and one bronze at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games. Her strong connection to San Sebastián de los Reyes is notable, having recently been named the best female athlete of the year in her hometown.
Although adaptive alpine skiing is her primary discipline, where she has made historic achievements for Spain, Audrey Pascual has proven to be a versatile athlete. In November 2024, she became the world champion in adaptive surfing in California, demonstrating her talent equally on snow and on the waves of the Pacific.
Pascual's journey with snow began almost by chance at age eleven at the La Pinilla resort, supported by the También Foundation. What started as a leisure activity quickly transformed into a meteoric career, accumulating 17 medals in the World Cup before her Paralympic consecration, establishing herself as an international benchmark in seated skiing.

She deserves to be here.

The Grand Cross of the Order of Dos de Mayo not only recognizes sporting achievements but also Audrey Pascual's role as a model of inclusion and excellence. The regional government has emphasized her natural demeanor and inspiring message in a society seeking authentic role models.
Other honorees in the 2026 edition include the president of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz Jr., professionals from the Wildlife Recovery Center (CRAS), the San Francisco de Asís University Hospital, and the company IBM, which is celebrating its centenary in Spain.
