San Sebastián de los Reyes experienced one of the fastest bull runs of the 2026 festivities this Thursday. The bulls from the São Torcato ranch completed the route to the square in just 1 minute and 40 seconds, reaching speeds close to 28 kilometers per hour.
Approximately 1,500 participants, according to Civil Protection data, ran alongside the herd. The event concluded with nine injured individuals, all with minor injuries. Most suffered falls and bruises, although one runner was taken to the hospital for a severe shoulder contusion for evaluation.
The herd maintained a relatively compact formation for much of the course, with the lead steers gradually moving ahead. The bulls displayed particularly lively behavior, leading a rapid race from the initial meters.
One of the most notable moments occurred in the Postas with Real section, where the bulls actively sought out runners, forcing some to hasten their pace towards the barriers. The herd's speed also resulted in particularly long chases, with runners finding themselves over 200 meters ahead of the bulls.
The Councilor for Festivities and Security, Carlos Bolarín, highlighted the behavior and "spirit" of this breed, describing the run as "very lively from start to finish".
The bulls entered the square in 1 minute and 40 seconds, while the complete course to the corrals concluded in 1 minute and 49 seconds.
The head of Civil Protection for San Sebastián de los Reyes, Pedro Martínez, estimated the number of participating runners at around 1,500, a figure similar to the previous day.
Rain was also present during the day, but it did not significantly affect the race's development. According to Civil Protection, the rainfall was not intense enough to make the course's asphalt slippery.
Minutes before the bull run began, the second secretary of the Senate and president of the Miguel Ángel Blanco Foundation, Mari Mar Blanco, received a spontaneous ovation from the crowd gathered along the route. Blanco was responsible for placing the image of the Santísimo Cristo de los Remedios earlier that day.
The fifth bull run, scheduled for Friday, August 28, will feature bulls from the La Castilleja ranch, continuing the bullfighting tradition in San Sebastián de los Reyes.
