The gala, held in the plenary hall of the City Council and presided over by Mayor Lucía S. Fernández, recognized the municipality's most outstanding athletes. Audrey Pascual solidified her position as a key figure in local sports thanks to a historic 2025 season, which included international successes and winning four medals at the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games.
The event also showcased the rise of athletics in the region. The Club de Atletismo San Sebastián de los Reyes-Centro Clínica Menorca was named best club, while Alejandra Sánchez Massa received a special mention for her spirit of overcoming challenges. Additionally, Ramiro Matamoros was honored for his lifelong dedication to sports.
Another highlight was the recognition of Samuel Becerra as best male athlete, following his debut in Primera División with Rayo Vallecano, a journey that began on the city's own fields. The gala commenced with an emotional tribute to David Cabrero, a professional cyclist and Local Police officer, remembered for his work in road safety education and his commitment to the community.
The event was attended by numerous national and international sports figures, such as Joan Capdevilla, world champion with the Spanish national team; Roberto Solozábal, Atlético de Madrid legend; taekwondo champions Adriana Cerezo, Viviana Marton, and Luana Marton; and former basketball player José Antonio Paraíso. The live broadcast by Canal Norte TV cemented these awards as an unmissable event in the local and regional sports calendar.
The gala also emphasized the role of sports as a social tool, highlighting initiatives such as the Receta Deportiva from the Hospital Universitario Infanta Sofía, aimed at improving the quality of life for oncology patients, and the work of clubs, fan groups, and educational centers in the municipality. With these awards, San Sebastián de los Reyes reaffirms its commitment to sports as a driver of social cohesion, health, and education.
