This assistance, which began on Monday, is part of a regional operation involving mobile teams deployed across 18 shelters in 16 municipalities within the Community of Madrid. The initiative aims to address the emotional distress caused by the uncertainty regarding the status of their homes and personal belongings.
The Alcobendas operation runs 24 hours a day with the support of 50 Civil Protection volunteers and local police officers. The group of evacuees includes 17 minors and four individuals with reduced mobility, all of whom receive social support, medical care, and meals tailored to their specific requirements.
The facility has also designated spaces for pets, currently housing eight dogs, three cats, and a rabbit. Meanwhile, children are participating in recreational activities organized by sports instructors to help them cope during the emergency.
