After several months during which only guided tours were offered by appointment for organized groups, the museum is resuming its regular opening this month. During the partial closure period, internal work was carried out for the review, cataloging, and reorganization of the collections, with special attention to objects on deposit. In parallel, renovation work has been carried out on the historic building's facade.
The new schedule for the Casa Museo de la Villa will be from Thursday to Sunday, including holidays. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the museum will be open from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On Sundays and holidays, the hours will be from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This measure, promoted by the Ayuntamiento de Colmenar Viejo, aims to facilitate regular access for both residents and visitors.
Despite not having ordinary opening hours, the museum maintained its cultural activity through guided tours for educational centers, associations, and groups. These months allowed for in-depth cataloging and reorganization of the collections, improving the conservation and presentation of the pieces. The City Council considers these actions to be preparing the space for a new phase of public access.
The intervention in the building also included the renovation of its facade, an action described by the councilor for Culture and Tourism as essential for the building's preservation. The Casa Museo de la Villa is a space dedicated to preserving and disseminating the heritage, history, and traditions of Colmenar Viejo, and its reopening facilitates access to its legacy.
