The 'Ilumina Alcobendas' contest has opened submissions for children and young people up to 16 years old to present their Christmas designs, with the goal of the winning artwork decorating the lampposts on a city street this winter.

The initiative, which aims to foster creativity among the youngest, returns once again with the purpose of involving children in the Christmas decoration of Alcobendas. The competition is divided into three age categories: up to 5 years old, 6 to 10 years old, and 11 to 16 years old.
Although the best works from each age group will be awarded, the grand prize is unique: a single design, selected by a specialized jury, will be chosen to be installed on the lampposts of a street in the town. The jury's final decision will be announced in June.
The submission deadline for designs, which began in April, extends until May 28. Participants have had and will have several opportunities to submit their creations at key points in the city, such as Víctimas del Terrorismo Park, the fairgrounds during the Family Day event, the four municipal media libraries (Pablo Iglesias, Centro de Arte, Anabel Segura, and Miguel Delibes), and the Municipal Psychopedagogical Center.
The organization has designed a collection schedule distributed over several weeks and in different locations to facilitate participation for all children and young people in the municipality. Specific technical requirements regarding the support or materials are not detailed, so it is recommended to consult the exact conditions at the drop-off points.
